Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I hardly saw anything on tv about it. We are a society in desperate need of some encouragement and this was a great opportunity to get some. Dr King was the word of encouragement in his day. "We shall overcome", "I have a dream". I get goosebumps just hearing those words.

Day after day I see doom and gloom. Everything from the news to new release movies are all about making people afraid. I for one am not going to listen to it any more. I will live by faith and not by fear.

The day the Lord comes is not supposed to be a fearful day for those of us who know the Lord. The signs are for those who don't know the Lord. The signs are to help them turn to God who is all we need to hope for.

Dr. King hoped and dreamed for that day when we would all be free of the fear that drives the sin in this world. He dreamed,

"I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, and rough places will be made plains, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed.....

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual,

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!"

Freedom is life with God, life with no fear, life without sin holding us back.
